Custom-Built Acer XV Fairway Wood

  • The new Acer XV fairways woods feature cup-face construction, i.e. part of the faceplate wraps around and becomes incorporated into the sole, crown and skirt area of the head. Cup face design pushes the welding line back away from the actual face so the areas around the perimeter could be made thinner creating more face deflection for higher ball speeds to areas other than the center of the face. Even when you miss-hit the ball, the XV with cup-face technology provides you that extra spring-like effect for longer shots.
  • In addition, these low profile heads coupled with the Gravity Port moved toward the face promotes a higher launch with lower spin for more distance.
  • The Gravity Port allows for fine-tuning of swingweight for different shaft weights and balance points and custom assembly lengths.
  • Head comes standard with a 7 gram weight screw, requires 4mm Allen wrench (non included). Additional 2 gram and 12 gram weight screws sold separately.
  • Please allow 3 business days for the club building.

Needed a fairway wood to replace an older one. This 5-wood fit the bill. I ordered it with a 1” longer shaft as I’m 6’-3” tall. The head was smaller than I expected but was not a problem hitting a ball. Was pleasantly surprised at the distance the ball flew. Was farther than the 4wood it replaced. And straighter!

Advantages: Longer and straighter than old 4 wood it replaced

Disadvantages: Took a little getting used to the smaller head size

I haven’t golfed much for the last 20 years. I could never really hit woods. Then the Adam’s tight lies clubs came out, and I bought clones. Synchron II. When I picked up my clubs this year after two decades away, I still enjoyed these clones, so much so that I was reluctant to purchase the Acer XV fairway wood. But I glad I took the chance. It took two balls off the tee to convert me, then three more from the grass. After 7 balls, I put the club away confident that I can hit it from just about anywhere. From a tee, tee it up low and hit down on it. From the grass, just hit down on the ball. I purchased the 18 degree 5 wood. I easily was hitting the ball between 215 and 225. Nice smooth swing. BOOM. I went with Acer shaft stiff. Order a head cover. Really nice. No regrets.

Advantages: Really nice looking club, low center of gravity, standard length is great (I’m 5’ 9.5”).

Disadvantages: Nothing about the club. I wish I would have ordered the Rexton jumbo grip. Went with the midsize. Won’t change them, but just slightly disappointed.
