the tip section of #8 iron shaft is 0.5 in longer than #9 iron shaft. it could keep the shaft slightly softer. the difference will be very small as you do 0.5 in more butt trim.

these are tapered shafts without any parallel tip section. No tip trim. any tip trim will change the tip diameter
