Ray Scott about  Acer XV Hybrid Head:
Jul 30, 2021
Made this for a new customer and he is very happy with it. With the correct shaft he is hitting it longer than his other hybrid.

For an amateur golfer, using short (and long) hybrids are game changers. The wider sole is super forgiving - if you hit the turf incorrectly (toe or heel, thin or fat), an iron will twist and result in a bad shot. With a hybrid, the wide sole protects you against those shots. For example, a fat shot will not get stuck in the turf like an iron, as the wide sole will adjust itself by not digging into the turf.

As a left hander, there aren’t any short hybrids out there, except a few really expensive ones. I bought a 7h club in December 2020 (it was only $38 back then). That worked so well, I bought a 9h head and put it on my existing 9i shaft. Rarely a bad shot from 100-120 anymore.

So, for $19.95 each, I bought a SW and LW and put them on my existing wedges - avoiding the expense of a shaft, grip, and ferrule.

So now I have no problems from inside 150yds.

Hybrids make the game so much more fun, and this is a super affordable way for lefties to get in on it.

Advantages: it’s a short-iron hybrid, I mean, c’mon.

Disadvantages: none

This shaft is the lightest one I have used, and yet is strong and responsive. I installed it in a Krank head and it works well

Advantages: Light yet strong and responsive

Disadvantages: Be cateful in trimming the shaft wall in the butt is very thin

I may upgrade my rating later. Due to the weather, I’ve only played with these clubs twice. Yet are very solid, but I’m still getting used to them.

Club was ordered with a 10.5* XV Titanium Driver with a UST ProForce V2-65 Black shaft +1.5" longer than std with a Winn Excel oversized grip.
First thing is I did not like the grip at all. My std grip is the Winn Dri-tac dark gray oversized. Went with a stiff shaft as it is longer than the reg flex I swing. (Around 92-95 mph) with the extra 1.5"s I now swing 97-101 mph. After changing the grip I started to make center face contact. (I was not comfortable with the Excel grip at all) I seem to get about 10-12 more yards of carry over my older driver, but the biggest difference is now I get more roll-out! With the 13* VX mini driver with the V2 yellow reg shaft I now have a 1-2 punch in my bag for any golf course I play.
Looking forward to my Myrtle Beach Trip!

Advantages: Faster head speed. Slightly lower ball flight, less ball spin for more roll out

Disadvantages: It took a while to get used to the 1.5" longer shaft

I played the 7.5 Bangomatic for years/I still have it/I am 68yrs old and wanted more forgiveness so I’ve been wanting to try the 430 TICN BANGSTER and I’m glad I did/yes the TICN treatment which causes less spin does work/the flow alignment that you notice on the top rear part of the head must work also because the distance I get has been superior to top brand names I’ve tried over the years/the feel coming off the face is solid and the sound is not loud at all and it doesn’t have a dull sound either/it’s just what I would call a normal sound/I’ve been building clubs for over 38 years and so far Bang has worked well and has stood the test of time/*the 30cc ever so slightly smaller size head you will never notice

Advantages: The number one advantage is you will have a top quality driver for around half the price of the big brand names

Disadvantages: The only disadvantage I can see would be not having a chance to try one before you buy it/but I’ve owned other TICN treated heads and never had any issues

I’m 68 years with a now shorter backswing and needed a shaft that kicked a little more so I don’t have to swing as hard. I’ve been building clubs for 38 + years/ after reading the description of several Accuflex shafts I opted for the Accuflex Pro LD stiff flex (I still have a short but slightly aggressive downswing thru the ball/matched it up with the Bang 430 BANGSTER driver head/what I ended up with was a driver I could swing not 100% and still hit a baby cut in play with decent distance and less effort/ I’ve been playing with several injuries as most older bucks do but now with less pain after the round/ this shaft is what the description says (mid kick point with a decent amount of flex but will definitely recover to and thru the ball/it’s 10 grams lighter than my previous shaft and the torque is 3.5 vs 3.0 in my previous shaft/while the new shaft feels weaker it is still a very strong shaft/ it has plenty of kick at the moment of impact/ I know I will be playing this club for a lot of years to come

Advantages: Accuflex shafts are what they promote, a filament wound shaft with virtually no spine and at a very reasonable price/if your not playing Accuflex shafts you risk the chance of having a driver where the spine is not aligned and the head will wobble inconsistently thru impact causing errant shots that are not your fault

Disadvantages: None

Brian about  Acer SR1 Iron Heads:
Feb 6, 2024
Bought the GW ( 48* ) as I don't have a Gap wedge for XXIO 12 Iron set.. Put it together with a UST-Mamiya Recoil 660 shaft. Wow I am impressed, wish I would have known earlier I would have bought the set of heads. Probably will buy a set of these heads and matching shaft for another set. Best Acer head I have ever hit and this beats Major name brands too. Hope this helps. Not even going to look for a XXIO 12 wedge now.

Advantages: Very Very forgiving and long for me. very Impressed

Disadvantages: None that I can see

Great driver, it really bombs in the middle of the fairway. Even with a 90 mph swing, I’m hitting this 240-260 yards! Though an old design, there’s a reason it won long drive contests. I cut my driver to a 3 wood length for better control and being able to order this club customized to length, shaft & grip for less than $200 is WAY less than my $500 Callaway Mavrik, which is now gathering dust!

Advantages: Hits straight & long

Disadvantages: Hosel isn’t adjustable for fine tuning loft, fade/drive bias, etc.

The UST Recoil graphite iron shafts really changed the performance of my older Mizuno JPX 850 irons. I had the older set of 850’s in storage, not using them anymore. I’m playing Mizuno 919 forged irons, great clubs. I installed the UST Recoil shafts in the 850’s just to try out and the 850’s are playing better than the forged 919 clubs! The Recoil shafts feel like they have more punch and distance with less effort.

Advantages: More distance with a good flight.

Disadvantages: A little less workability.
